Privacy concerns
What data Rambox 3 collects, where it is kept, what never leaves your computer, and how to control or delete it.
Privacy is a top priority at Rambox. This article explains, in plain terms, what information Rambox keeps about you, who processes it, what stays on your computer, and the controls you have. The full legal details are in our Privacy Policy.
What Rambox keeps in your account
- Your profile: your first and last name and email address, and the optional details you add in the web console (country, city, industry, position and team size), plus your profile photo if you upload one.
- Your Rambox setup: your workspaces, the apps inside them, their settings and order, your custom profiles and your default apps for links. This is what lets your setup appear on every computer where you sign in.
- Your devices: the computers signed in to your account, with their name, platform, Rambox version and when they were last used. You can see this list in the web console's Machines page.
- Your plan and billing records, and any support requests you send us.
Who else processes your data
- Sign-in is handled by Google Identity Platform. If you sign in with Google, Microsoft or Facebook, that provider handles that part of the sign-in.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe's secure pages and are never stored by Rambox.
- Your account data is stored on Google's cloud services (Google Firebase).
What never leaves your computer
- Your sign-ins to the apps you add. Passwords, cookies and other app data are stored locally, as in Chrome. Rambox doesn't keep your app passwords on its servers.
- Your browser history, if you use "Scan my browsers" during setup. The first-run setup can suggest apps based on the sites you visit most. As the app itself says, "History is read locally on your device and never sent anywhere."
- Unified Search results. When you connect an app to Unified Search, what Rambox finds in it "is fetched only when you search and is never stored on Rambox's servers." See Unified Search.
- Your Master Password. It is stored in a protected (hashed) form, only on the computer where you set it.
The AI assistant uses your own AI account
Rambox has no AI of its own. The AI assistant opens the service you choose (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot or Gemini) with your own account, like any other app. When you ask a question, Rambox can add the content of the app you're looking at (and any other apps you attach) to your message, and it is sent to that AI service under its own privacy policy. You see which apps are included before you send, and you can leave any of them out.
If you don't want to use AI at all, turn off Settings → General → AI assistant. That hides the AI button, panel and menu entries. See AI assistant.
Product usage data
Rambox collects data about which features you use so we can improve them. You can turn this off at any time:
- In Rambox, click your avatar at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Profile. The web console opens in your browser.
- Open the Privacy & data section.
- Switch off Product usage data.
Turning it off stops the usage data collected by the Rambox apps for your account on every device. Account, license and billing records are still kept, because we need them to provide the service.
Your rights and controls
- See and edit your profile in the web console at any time. See Your profile configuration.
- Change your email address from the console. See How to change my email for Rambox.
- Delete your account and all its data. See How to remove your account.
GDPR
We follow the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in how we collect, process and protect your information. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
