Why doesn't Rambox support 32-bit?
Rambox 3 is available only as a 64-bit application. Here's why, and which versions are available for each system.
Rambox 3 is distributed only as a 64-bit application. There is no 32-bit version for Windows or Linux.
Why only 64-bit?
Rambox is built on Electron and Chromium, the same technology as Google Chrome. Recent versions of that technology, which bring the latest security fixes and features, are no longer built for 32-bit systems. Keeping Rambox up to date with them means leaving 32-bit behind.
On top of that, almost every computer sold in the last decade runs a 64-bit operating system, and the vast majority of Rambox users are already on 64-bit.
Which versions are available?
| System | Version available |
|---|---|
| Windows | 64-bit (x64) |
| macOS | Universal: Apple Silicon and Intel |
| Linux | 64-bit (x64) |
How do I know if my computer is 64-bit?
- Windows: open Settings → System → About and look at System type. It should say "64-bit operating system".
- Linux: open a terminal and run
uname -m. If it printsx86_64, your system is 64-bit. - macOS: every Mac that can run a current version of macOS is 64-bit.
