How to uninstall Rambox?

Remove Rambox 3 from Windows, macOS or Linux, and optionally delete the data it keeps on your computer.

Uninstalling Rambox removes the app from your computer. Your Rambox account, and the workspaces and apps saved in it, are not deleted: if you install Rambox again later and sign in, your setup comes back.

Before you uninstall

  • Free up a device slot (optional). Your plan allows a limited number of active devices at once. If you're not going to use this computer anymore, remove it from your account: click your avatar at the bottom of the sidebar, choose Profile, and in the web console go to Machines and click Remove device next to this computer. See Active sessions: how does it work?.
  • Quit Rambox. Closing the window may only send Rambox to the tray or taskbar. Quit it completely: on Windows and Linux, open the Menu button at the top-left of the window and choose File → Exit, or right-click the tray icon and choose Quit. On macOS, choose Rambox → Quit in the menu bar.

Windows

  1. Quit Rambox.
  2. Open the Start menu and go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps (on Windows 10: Settings → Apps → Apps & features).
  3. Find Rambox in the list.
  4. Click the … button next to it (on Windows 10, click the app) and choose Uninstall.
  5. Confirm, and follow the uninstaller.

Remove local data (optional). To delete everything Rambox stored on this computer (your app sign-ins, cache and local settings), delete this folder after uninstalling:

C:\Users\<your user>\AppData\Roaming\Rambox

You can paste %APPDATA%\Rambox into the File Explorer address bar to get there quickly.

macOS

  1. Quit Rambox (Rambox → Quit, or right-click its Dock icon and choose Quit).
  2. Open Finder and go to Applications.
  3. Drag Rambox to the Trash, or right-click it and choose Move to Trash.
  4. Empty the Trash when you're ready.

Remove local data (optional).

  1. In Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder… from the menu bar.
  2. Type ~/Library/Application Support/Rambox and press Return.
  3. Move the Rambox folder to the Trash.

Linux

How you uninstall depends on the package you installed. Open a terminal and run the command for your package:

You installed…Command
Snapsudo snap remove rambox
DEB (Ubuntu, Debian and similar)sudo apt remove rambox
RPM (Fedora, openSUSE and similar)sudo dnf remove rambox (or sudo zypper remove rambox)
Flatpakflatpak uninstall com.rambox.app
AppImage, .tar.gz or .zipDelete the file or folder you downloaded.

Remove local data (optional). Delete this folder:

~/.config/Rambox

Snap and Flatpak keep their data inside their own folders (~/snap/rambox and ~/.var/app/com.rambox.app), which are usually removed together with the package.

WARNING

Deleting the local data folder signs you out of every app inside Rambox on this computer. If you reinstall, your workspaces and apps come back after you sign in to Rambox, but you'll need to sign in to each app again.

Want to delete your account too?

Uninstalling doesn't delete your Rambox account or the setup saved in it. If you want to remove your account and all its data permanently, see How to remove your account. If you have a paid subscription, read that article first: deleting the account ends the subscription immediately.

Great service changes everything.
