Are you losing your logins in Rambox?
Why your apps may ask you to sign in again inside Rambox, and what you can do to keep your sessions open.
Rambox is built to keep you signed in to your apps, just like your browser does. If an app keeps asking you to sign in again, one of the causes below is usually behind it.
Likely causes
- The app's own security rules. Some services (Gmail and other Google apps, banking or company tools) sign you out after a while, after inactivity, or when they detect a new device. That happens in any browser, not only in Rambox.
- Your organization's policies. Company accounts often have session time limits set by your IT team.
- Apps that share a profile. On the Pro plan, apps on the same profile share one session. When you sign out of one of them (for example Gmail), the others on that profile (Calendar, Drive…) are signed out too.
- The Incognito profile. Apps set to Incognito don't save anything. You need to sign in every time Rambox starts.
- Clearing data. Tools → Clear Local Storage, or Clear LocalStorage in a profile's maintenance, signs you out of the affected apps. See Clear cache and local storage.
- Changing plans. On Basic every app has its own session. If your account moved from Pro to Basic, apps that used to share a profile may ask you to sign in again.
- Changing Rambox versions. Going back to an older version (downgrading) can sign you out of some apps.
- A custom app pointed at the login page. See Your custom app doesn't retain login credentials?
- A new computer. App logins are stored on each computer. Your apps and workspaces sync to a new computer, but you sign in to each app there once.
- Cleanup or antivirus tools that delete browser data can also remove Rambox's saved sessions.
Upgrading from Rambox 2?
The first time you open Rambox 3, you sign in to your Rambox account again from your browser. That's expected and only happens once. See Upgrading from Rambox 2.
How to fix it
Check the app in your browser. Sign in to the same service in Chrome, Firefox or Safari. If it also signs you out there, the service's own rules are the cause, and Rambox can't change them.
Check the app's profile. Right-click the app in the sidebar, click the cog (Settings) and look at Profile:
- If it says Incognito, change it to Private, Inherit from Workspace or one of your profiles, click Save and sign in again.
- If you don't want this app to be signed out together with others, give it the Private profile.
Choosing a profile is a Pro feature; on Basic every app already has its own session. See Profiles.
Keep Rambox up to date. See How to check for updates?
Exclude Rambox from cleanup tools. If you use a tool that cleans browser data, add Rambox to its exceptions.
Reinstall Rambox. If it happens with many apps and none of the above helps, do a clean uninstall following How to uninstall Rambox? and install the latest version.
DANGER
A clean uninstall removes the app logins stored on this computer. You'll need to sign in to each app again.
