Article updated for v2.6.3.
Since April 28th, 2026, Rambox will no longer support Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and macOS 11 (Big Sur). Consequently, Rambox's 2.6.3 version (and higher) requires the following minimum operating system versions to continue receiving future updates:
- Windows: Windows 10 (v1809+), Windows 11, and Windows Server 2016+ (x64, x86, ARM64)
- macOS: macOS 12 (Monterey) or newer, supporting both Apple Silicon and Intel
- Linux: Ubuntu 22.04+, Fedora 38+, openSUSE Leap 15.5+ / Tumbleweed, and Debian 12+ (glibc >= 2.28)
This limitation is due to:
- Microsoft's end of support for Windows 7 ESU and Windows 8.1 on January 10th, 2023.
- Apple's end of support for macOS 11 on February 2nd, 2026.
- Electron’s deprecation of such Windows and macOS versions.
We encourage all users to consider switching to a supported Windows, macOS, or Linux version, as well as upgrading to Rambox's latest version (2.6.3), to ensure continued access to updates, security patches, and a seamless experience.
