Article updated for v2.4.1.
Rambox allows you to hibernate (put to sleep) apps after a certain period of inactivity, helping free up memory when they are not in use. You can also configure apps to start in hibernation mode.
However, we do not recommend enabling hibernation for email or messaging apps, as they need to run in the background to check for new messages or emails.
How to enable hibernation
1. Right-click on the app's icon.
2. Select "Settings".
3. Scroll down and find the hibernation option above the "Advanced" section.
By default, newly added apps will hibernate after 15 minutes of inactivity. Some apps, such as messaging and email services, have hibernation disabled by default to ensure real-time notifications.
Notes:
- If an app is playing or streaming audio, hibernation will be prevented until playback stops.
- When an app is hibernated, its icon will be dimmed a bit and a small green leaf will appear on top of it. Please refer to THIS ARTICLE to learn more about our indicators.
- If an app hibernates automatically, a screen like the following will appear informing you. At the bottom-right corner, you’ll see a switch to quickly prevent that app from hibernating.
